Overview

When the tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji left the fortess of Sri Anandpur Sahib, He found his family missing in the turbulent of Sarsa Nadi as it was flooded due to overnight heavy rains. Guruji’s mother reverend Mata Gujri Ji alongwith Sahebzada Fateh Singh Ji and Sahebzada Jorawar Singh Ji, accompanied Gangu Rasoiya (their chef) to Saherhi. Guru Ji alongwith Sahebzada Ajit Singh Ji, Sahebzada Jujhar Singh Ji, Panj Pyare and 40 Singhs went to ‘Bhatha Sahib’ wherefrom they reached Chamkaur Sahib. Sahebzada Ajit Singh Ji and Sahebzada Jujhar Singh Ji including many other Singhs achieved martyrdom after causing heavy casualties on the enemy in a battle. All other soldiers pleaded guruji to abandon ‘GARHI’ but Guruji refused. Then five Singhs requested Guruji to leave the Garhi and Guru Ji could not refuse. The same night Guruji presented His ‘Kalgi’ to Bhai Sangat Singh and reached Jand Sahib.
