Government Degree College - Talwari

Overview

The College was established on February 28, 1997 in Talwari, which is situated 11 km from the Tehsil Tharali and 11km from Gwaldam, which is beautiful tourist place situated at the Bageshwar-Chamoli district border. Talwari is a beautiful place and its lovely to watch the snow covered Trishuli mountains from this place. It is about 98 km away from the District Headquarter, i.e. Gopeshwar. As it is the only college in the Pindar valley, the students from very remote places like Deval, Tharali, Lolti, Talwari, Gwaldam, Gerur, etc. come to study. There are two faculties in the college, viz. Arts and Science. The Faculty of Arts has six departments (Hindi, English, Sanskrit, History, Sociology and Political Science), while Faculty of Science has five departments (Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology). The College is functional in two buildings, viz. Science Block 1 and 2, while the building of Administrative Block is under construction.
