Haflong Government College

Overview

Haflong Government College is situated in the heart of the picturesque Haflong town of Dima Hasao (erstwhile North Cachar Hills) district of Assam. It was established on the 4th of September, 1961 as private night College, since then the College is steadily becoming an excellent centre of learning. The College was taken over by the Government of Assam on 5th of November, 1975. It has completed its 50th year of glorious existence on 4th September, 2011. Since its inception this premier institution took up the cudgels to articulate the aspirations of ethnic societies of the district. Coroneted and dressed with naturally stunning and beautiful flora as well as being situated on the hill top, Haflong Govt. College is presently a full-fledged college with three streams consisting of 13 subjects/Departments, 69 sanctioned posts of teaching and 36 of non-teaching staff and more than 2000 students from Higher Secondary to Post Graduation classes altogether.
