Overview

National College For Women, Machhiwara is marching forward with the motto to facilitate the Objective of enkindling the dark corners of human mind with the light of knowledge. The Historical importance of this small town, no longer needs any assertion, for the tenth Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who took privilege over there after leaving the city of Chamkaur Sahib. Guruji made a plea to Almighty by reciting a holy hymn “Mittar Pyare Nu”, this Shabad is one of his two Important creations in Punjabi Language. The particular place where he stayed is known as Gurdwara Charan Kanwal Sahib. The sacred well by the side of which Guruji took shelter and from where he solaced his thirst, is also enshrined in this Gurdwara Sahib. Another pilgrimage, Gurdwara Gani Khan Nabi Khan is established to pay homage to Bhai Gani Khan and Nabi Khan who rescued Guru Ji from the clutches of Mughals by disguising him as “Uch Da Peer”. There are two other Gurdwaras i.e. Gurdwara Chaubara Sahib and Gurdwara Kirpaan Bhet Sahib. Those holy places not only serve the purpose of a pilgrimage to the devotees but also stand as historical monuments for Guru Ji’s visit to that town. The town is also famous for “Nathan Da Mandir”. According to Hindu mythology, the mother of pandavas took sacred “Eshnaan” over there and the holy reservoir of this temple is to be considered as the celestial source of equanimity.
