Overview

Ranvir Rananjay Post Graduate College, Amethi is one of the most prestigious college in Uttar Pradesh.It was founded by the late king of Amethi, Rajarshi Rananjay Singh, in the memory of his elder brother Ranvir Singh. Rananjay Singh had unique desire for spread of education, and in this vision he was highly influenced by the ideas of Shri Madan Mohan Malviya. “If we trace the course of some great river it is bubbles in the beginning”. In the same manner a primary school was established called ‘Anand Pathshala’ in 1916, which was upgraded upto ‘Anglo Varnacular Middle School’ in 1932 and a High-School in 1948. It was again raised to an Intermediate college in 1951, a Degree College in 1959 and upgraded to Post-Graduate College in 1973. The B.Ed. classes were started as early as in 1963. Science faculty was established in 1993, Commerce faculty in 1998, M.Ed courses were started in 1980 and B.P.Ed in 2004. Earlier it was affiliated to Agra University, Agra, but with the establishment of Gorakhpur University, it got affiliated to the Gorakhpur University in 1960. Since 1975, the college is affiliated to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University Faizabad. U.P .
