Gujarat Technological University was established vide Government of Gujarat legislature act no 20 of 2007, dated 16th May 2007. Education Department, Government of Gujarat vide its notification no. GH/SH/23/2008/GTU/102008/960/S, dated 8th July, 2008 has affiliated Degree and Diploma Engineering, Degree and Diploma Pharmacy colleges from the academic year 2008-09 with Gujarat Technological University. Education Department, Government of Gujarat vide its notification no. GH/SH/10/2009/GTU/102008/960/S, dated 26th May, 2009 has affiliated, MBA, MCA, M.E., M. Pharm and P.D.D.C courses from the academic year 2009-10. Within the first year of its inception, Gujarat Technological University has emerged as a real trend setter. It is the first University in Gujarat which uses many Information Technology tools for its major activities. It aims to impart quality education in the emerging areas of science, engineering, technology, management and environment to shape the future of tomorrow\'s citizens. It will establish close linkages with industries to make teaching, training and research at national and global levels. It is going to implement MIS by next semester, for students, faculty and institutes. GTU ensures excellent academic environment to accomplish educational goals. In 2009 ,GTU had conducted Computer based GCET exam and won prestigiousMANTHAN AWARD SOUTH ASIA -2009 for the innovation and ICT content in its application. GTU had earlier won the e-India Award 2009 for the same GCET. This is the 10th year of GCET. Education Department, Government of Gujarat, vide Notification No. GH/SH/22/PVS/ 102011/336/S dated May 30, 2011, has entrusted the job of Gujarat Common Entrance Test for the academic year 2011-12 to Gujarat Technological University.
